The art of Lisa Manyweathers, known to AFA members as our friend Jonquil, is marked not only by the beauty that draws an artist’s eys but a tranquil and peaceful spirit that makes one reluctant to turn away. It would come as no surprise that Lisa loves the Pre-Raphaelites and has incorporated many of her favourites into her own work. Using stamps, fibers and embellishments, Lisa began creating ATCs as well as inchies, chunky book pages, and art dolls four years ago. “I would be lost without the opportunity to create. I love each new challenge that comes my way!” Lisa says. Collage is one of her favourite techniques, particularly since it allows her the freedom to include a variety of elements and approaches to themes. One of Lisa’s art goals is to create more fabric cards, as she learned early in life both to knit and sew. Lisa created all the costumes for a school production of Twelfth Night - a tremendous undertaking which was as enjoyable as it was successful. “I’m hoping for a newer fandangled sewing machine with lots of doodads on it!!!” she told us.. No doubt, that sewing machine will open the door to even more beautiful and unique art from Lisa.
