Beach Reflections ATC Swap, Open Media, Date Due: August 20, 2024

My cards are done and will probably go out tomorrow. One is about seeing sea otters, another is beach combing, one is whale watching and the last is an activity we did in HI. We took our lawn chairs and set them up in shallow water and read our books. Our feet were in the cool water.

Here are my cards for this swap. They are all collage/mixed media, some with fibers added. Two of them (Beachcombers and Tide Pools) include artworks that I created in Vue D'esprit many years ago. Sadly at some point along the way, an upgrade to my Mac OS rendered it incompatible with Vue, and I can no longer create art with it.

Your cards sound great - I like that activity you did in Hawaii. I would love to sit with my feet in the cool water :-)

One of our friends was learning to surf in CA and we were chair sitting at a keiki (children's) beach. Of course she was younger.

Many of the beaches on the Big Island had grassy areas and shade. We did a lot of reading there.

I would like to join. Here are my cards - mailing on the 5th

View attachment 792124 Abalone Shells Collected on a Beach. If you have never eaten abalone, try it. It is super expensive to purchase. I got my abalone when I was dating a guy who used to dive to a depth of 40 feet off the coast of California. Back then (40 years ago!) the only way to harvest them was by free diving (no air tanks allowed) and prying attached abalone off rocks. There was a limit of 4 abs per diver per day. They had to be a certain size to be legal. To cook them you pound the foot until it is really thin, then saute in butter. If you enjoy lobster, abalone is 10x better.

That set is absolutly amazing! Love how you've combined details in each - they really have a unique beach and sea vibe!
But, admit, adore the B.E.A.C.H. one: the perfect meaning for that word, and place, indeed! 💞
