Books I Love! Swap, Open Media ~ Date Due: November 6, 2023

Yesterday we returned from an 11 day trip to Vancouver Island, BC. we had to buy another piece of luggage as we purchased a dozen or so novels by Canadian authors. So mentally we are still in Canada even though our bodies have returned to Oregon.

And another wonderful set arrived today ~ thank you, AndromedasWitchery!

Lurking for a bit. As a former children's librarian I have too many books from which to choose!

Ah...the librarian's constant dllemma!
All those books I kept finding every day and then all the favorite books people would recommend to me!

Hope you can narrow it down and join us, Cleopatra!

These are from two of my all-time, favorite authors. MamaDoYouLoveMe.jpgPaintedLadies.jpg These are from two different books by Alaskan artist, Barbara Lavallee. "Mama, Do You Love Me" is a children's book that displays tons of art about native Alaskans, Russians, Alaskan neighbors and life . I don't know how many times I've read it to all four grandchildren. Four of my favorite people live in Anchorage, our son, his wife and their two sons. I love it there. The other book is called "Painted Ladies" and it is a celebration of the women of the world. The dancer is a Russian. Lavallee has a way of charming me with her wonderful paintings. The next two celebrate Charles Dickens. I doubt I've read everything he has written but I do think he is a great, traditional story teller. OliverTwist.jpgChristmasCarol.jpg I have seen the old, black and white movie of "A Christmas Carol" plus I've read it more than once. "Oliver Twist" is heart-wrenching and made me happy I had a home every time I read it.

Wow! Nice going, Pamitha and BlancoLobo!

Pamitha ~ I also really like "Mama, Do You Love Me", such a beautiful book!
I'll have to look up "Painted Ladies".
And I read or watch "A Christmas Carol" every year in December.

BlancoLobo ~ I used to read "The Wizard of Oz" under the covers at night with a flashlight when I was supposed to be asleep! And I bet lots of us remember those wonderful horse stories.

Your cards are absolutely wonderful! I love the little girl with the doll - so precious. I remember reading Oliver Twist and it was heartbreaking - I love your drawing of little Oliver!

Scrooge scared "the Dickens" out of me but not really... Scrooge was a version of what my mom called "the ogre." The ogre made my stomach ache my entire life at home ! But he loved my husband, as do I!
