Global Tea Culture (Open Media) — Due June 14, 2024

This is fun! I buy tea to take some home whenever I travel , but my favorite is England's style: black tea with milk and sugar. I have Typhoo tea at home often.
So here are my cards which I'll mail tomorrow. I have your address Allegrea.

Great cards! Welcome!

I'd like to join - my cards are done.
I used postage stamps and literary tea quotes (credited on the backs - Japan: Okakura Kakuzo, Vietnam: Thich Nhat Hanh, Russia: Dostoevsky and DH Lawrence: England) to identify the countries - hope that is okay.
If so, I will mail them on Tuesday.

These are not too bulky, just the thickness of card stock - but I had so much fun making them. History has credit listed in case you want to visit the websites for more. I carved a tiny teacup stamp from part of an eraser, and the other stamps are eraser stamps that I made this year. Gold edges on all cards. Real postage stamps on 3 cards, but Tibet is under China so they no longer have their own stamps. So I used an image of a yak since butter tea is made with yaks' milk.
Such wonderful unique cards!

Cultures around the world celebrate tea in rich and diverse ways. The humble tea leaf unites communities through cherished traditions and extraordinary flavors.
  • In Japan, tea ceremonies are highly ritualized, with precise rules dictating the type of tea used to the way it’s prepared and consumed.
  • In China, drinking tea is a spiritual experience, and young people serve tea to their elders as a sign of respect.
  • In India, chai tea is a household staple, combining black tea, milk, sugar, and exotic spices like cardamom and ginger. Tea leaves are often boiled directly in milk.
  • In the United Kingdom, high tea reigns supreme, with scones, sandwiches, and pastries served alongside a pot of hot tea—and saucer etiquette is paramount.
You can learn more about tea culture across the continents here.

Join me for a cuppa, and create 3 cards that represent tea culture in any countries you choose (one country per ATC). Each card must include two elements:
  1. Tea (i.e., a cup, pot, leaves, something representative of the beverage)
  2. Something that represents the country in question (a symbol, map, flag, person, language, food, landmark, etc.). Please identify the country on the front or back of each card.
Requirements
  • Send 3 different cards.
  • Your name, user name, swap name, location on the back of each card
