Swap Due Date - Friday March 6th
Signup/withdraw date - Sign up by Febr 27--withdraw anytime
Number of Cards - 3 for 3 or 6 for 6.
Number of participants - unlimited
Medium: tape, pens, watercolors

This is another technique swap. I will give directions but there will be choices. I saw a simpler version of this on a FB reel and I've been making this most days.
1. Watercolor paper is best. It will hold up to what you put on it. I tried big and cutting down to ATC size. I also tried ATC size & that worked better.
2.. Place tape on card. I tried washi, didn't work. Tried painters tape, also not so good. then masking tape. This is the best. I tried a slightly more narrow masking tape. But I also ordered thinner tape from Amazon. I do like the thinner tape the most. If you extend the edges of your tape past the card, then you anchor the card down to your surface. A good thing.
3. Use pens to fill in the nontape spaces. I used Sharpies as they don't run or smear with water. The examples I saw were scribbles all over. I also tried zentangle lines(repeated lines) and I like those best. But scribbling feels good. My son (who last made art with me when he was a kid) did make a simple scene, a sunset, and that turned out well.
4. Tape is still on. Use a brush & watercolors to fill in the spaces. This is going over your lines. Every space can have a different color or the spaces can be all the same color. Another choice for you.
5. The hardest part is waiting for the paint to dry. If you take off the tape when wet, parts that you want to stay on, will leave. A glue stick can fix this.
6. Another choice. You can leave your lines white. Or you can paint different colors on them. I like printing with Stazon black with a little bottlecap.Or even a pencil top. Or....

Not as interesting but necessary-
* Make sure your ATCS are 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches. Put your cards into plastic sleeves.
* Cards need to arrive in some sort of holder or taped in a line (slightly overlapping ) with painters tape or washi.
Do NOT send me envelopes.
* Do send a label or paper with your mailing address.
* I will provide envelopes for everyone.
US players will provide one or two postage stamps with an edge.
International players-I will provide postage.

The US postal system is not reliable. Make and send early. If all the cards arrive before the due date, I do swap out early. If your cards arrive on March 7th, its okay. If they arrive later, I will mail them back to you. I do not wait for late cards, no matter who much you spend to get them here.

Unfortunately I cannot post images. I try to make my instructions as clear as possible. maybe this will help. Take an ATC and place masking tape across it. Tape can cross eachother or not. The tape design is up to you.
Then you use sharpies to fill in the spaces where there is no tape. The take a brush and put water color paint over the pens. Let dry. Remove the tape.
You can always ask if you don't understand a particular part.

I love this idea! Can I lurk for the time being though? I have a lot to do, and a hospital appointment all day on 15th January, and we’re going on a road trip the following week to Scotland to visit our son in Edinburgh. If I can get them done in time, I will sign up then!

Hi, could you post an example or images of the process? not sure i got the instructions..
Look on Pinterest - just search watercolor and tape. I'm a visual learner too and after reading the directions no less than three times my first set was the exact opposite somehow🙄.

will check it out in a few days.. im leaving the ship soon and will have full internet again

I think the ones I watched only had scribbling with the sharpies. But I also like repeated lines. similar to zentange patterns. You can make your pen-lines anyway you like.

Not sure which parts of the directions people are not understanding.

@NancyL, I think I understand your explanation and the concept is similar to the picture shown by @sunderance.
Please sign me up for this. I always enjoy the results of your technique mashup swaps.

Leydab' I appreciate that most times you make at least one card and post it. so I do get an example And also thank you out to sunderance who also has been joing my swaps and already has posted an example. .

Sometimes i feel I am writing in code. Between being old and doing grief, I manage to eliminate letters.
