Sunderance, thanks so much for that image, I’m sure others will be happy to see it. This is pretty much what I had envisioned, and I do like the idea of watercolor first, then markers after it dries. This brings me to an idea for another swap, using the same process, but with a product called Miskit in place of the tape. That way you could make curves and swirls. Miskit is like a liquid latex(?) product that you brush on with a soapy brush (for easier brush cleanup afterward. Then you do the painting and markers just like with the tape. The Miskit can be removed by rubbing a wadded up piece of masking tape over it, and then you have the white spaces just like with the tape, but your lines aren’t limited to being straight. Just an interesting idea for a future swap.
