Take It Off: Due Friday March 6

Sunderance, thanks so much for that image, I’m sure others will be happy to see it. This is pretty much what I had envisioned, and I do like the idea of watercolor first, then markers after it dries. This brings me to an idea for another swap, using the same process, but with a product called Miskit in place of the tape. That way you could make curves and swirls. Miskit is like a liquid latex(?) product that you brush on with a soapy brush (for easier brush cleanup afterward. Then you do the painting and markers just like with the tape. The Miskit can be removed by rubbing a wadded up piece of masking tape over it, and then you have the white spaces just like with the tape, but your lines aren’t limited to being straight. Just an interesting idea for a future swap.

That's very cool. I used to make batik fabric, and this looks similar!

Your directions were clear - it is my brain that went on several tangents before I saw a picture on Pinterest and realized THAT was exactly what you said.
 
@AmethystStar those are awesome! One trick for the tape is to put it on your shirt or other fabric to make it less sticky before adhering it to the paper. Of course, your household is anything like mine, watch out for pet hair 🤣

Thanks for the tip!! Oh yes, I've definitely had many moments of pulling a stray pet hair out of my art, haha! 😹
 
I found that if you let your watercolors dry, the tape takes off less/ A gluestick can reattach the moved paper.
 
Thanks to everyone who are posting examples. Once upon a time, I did post examples. And now I don't. I am involved with a lot of persoanl issues, one being grief, and I am learning how to manage finances, a new car and a cell phone. Posting is great skill to have but my brain cannot at this time manage that skill.
 
I am using this kind of art to go on family birthday cards. I arrange 3 ATCs next to each other and tape. So some pieces go across all three cards. The best set I mad, I glued them all to the same cardstock and have it displayed. Since this is MY house now, I have a lot of personal art up on my walls. My roommate does not make art. And she sees my art room as a floor buffet. She is not often allowed in.
 
Mine is here and there. And yes, Harley is our pit mix from Texas. We have maps on our hallway walls. Places where we have lived or where our sons live--CA, HI, WA and OR. And where we have travelled. Now there is just a world map and one of Tasmania. India was once there as well as the Inner Passage of Alaska.
 
I do have an art wall in my art room. This is mostly from other people. When I did more art with my grands, I would ask them to make at least 2 so they could have one and I could have one.
 
Will add you both. I am using this same technique on larger pieces of wc paper. then I will cut hearts out of them and string them and they will be my valentines for this year.
I also tried the paint first and then added lines. I like the other way, lines and then paint.
