Warning Signs - open media - due January 19th.
We see signs everywhere, when we drive, go into a store, or even walking down a path. These signs, helpful or not, are trying to alert people and seek to influence behavior.
Your cards are using signs or creating signs that would be used as a warning of some kind. Anything from "keep off the grass," to "dangerous riptide," to a simple yield sign would work. My examples will be on the next post.
If you use an existing sign, you can create just the sign itself, or you can play off the sign in some way. For example, the "Handle with Care" card is using this warning in a different way.
If you create a new sign, or one that would not be well known, you'll probably need to put some words on that sign or a visual designation, like a circle with a line through it. My "No Smoking" sign is based off a sign I saw in Greece. Without the words, it would be a picture, but the words should convey it is a sign.
You don't have to use words on a card if you can convey that you are creating or using a sign. For the yield sign, if you used a white triangle with a red outline, you wouldn't have to have the word yield on the card.
I plan to interpret this rather broadly. The "Don't be a litterbug!" card is both a slogan and a sign. If you have questions please ask.
Swap Requirements ~
1. Each card must include or represent a warning sign in some way.
2. All cards should be standard 3.5” x 2.5”
3. This swap is 3 for 3. An extra card for the host is lovely and I genuinely appreciate it, but is completely optional. Sometimes I only have 3 ideas for a swap, so don't feel bad if you don't include a host card.
Other stuff
Mailing Information ~
* Include username, real name, your state/country and the swap name on the back of all cards - and put username and swap name on all envelopes sent.
* US Participants – Please include a clearly written mailing label and stamp. This is what I prefer. If you send a SASE I'll use it, but not my first choice.
* International Participants - Please send a mailing label and I will cover postage. Again, I'll take an envelop, but not my first choice.
*Late cards past a day or so will be returned.
*When you receive your returns, please leave I-Trader for your swap host and rep points for the artists of the cards you receive. Also, in your rep points, naming which card you received is nice, since people like to know where their artworks end up.
Participants:
1. Allegrae - complete
2. Elliejaybird - complete
3. withdrew
4. Smallgirl - complete
