Thats the effect of the beeeswax coating on the top layer. Sometimes I can get it really nice, sometimes it's a little tricky. Just bought an encaustic iron to use for these so I am expecting more consistent results. haven't had a chance to play yet since I've been out of town the last couple of days. Enjoy the card!
