I use CDs as the 'canvas' when I teach folks how to do "Swiped Acrylics" (which is a technique I derived from 'poured acrylics' last year). I teach small classes in my home in Davis, California.
Last year I started with pouring, but was not satisfied. It used SO much paint, took forever to dry, and (most annoying) continued to change after I was done 'painting!
So I studied on the physics of it all and devised a variation that I call "Swiped Acrylics" which allows me to create the cells and lacing using much less paint. I began with abstracts and now do landscapes as well. I am making lots of art and I also teach this technique at my home in California.
These are very interesting! Gotta agree with you that pouring seems like excess paint possibly going to waste, and the dry time. That's one thing that's always put me off of trying pouring is I have no space to let a canvas sit and dry for days on end.
There's so many interesting ones . . . I rather like fourth column, third row. The teal crackling with the white lines between cells is eye catching.
