Love the connection of stamp to picture - the binoculars and horse are perfect and you carved the woman, right? My card - I read the rules three times to be sure I wasn’t doing it wrong because some of them were a little out there from the examples… I also apparently need to make more people stamps because lady x is the only non medusa option in my collection and dress up designs are too much fun for that!

Yes! I carved it for a previous swap plan, and it’s based on a John Singer Sargent portrait. Came in very handy here!Love the connection of stamp to picture - the binoculars and horse are perfect and you carved the woman, right?![]()
Great set of cards !
Welcome, The Walnut Tree!Me please! I had so much fun when we did this!!
One question: Do we have to use real stamps from the post office or mail? I'm wondering because I receive the catalog of USAPhilatelia, so it is full of stamps, but just in the catalog, and I could cut them from it, not from actual mail. Would that work? Or you want real stamps?
Thanks, MarySaintMary…I wish the mail was more reliable so I could send you a packet of used postage stamps I have collected over the years to use for this swap.I'm lurking, because I don't think I will have enough time to participate. But I love seeing what you guys are doing here! The thing is, postage is really expensive in Sweden. Postage to anywhere in the world except domestic is ~$4.50 (two 'forever' stamps) if you buy the stamps at the post office. However, I've lately realized that people actually sell discount stamps online. They're apparently stamp collectors that bought forever stamps when they were maybe $0.70 apiece, and they're worth ~$2.25 apiece nowadays, and they sell them for maybe ~$1.25. Win-win for everyone (except the post office, but that serves them right!). So I was browsing 'second hand stamps' just now, a little bummed out about the price and about inflation in general, and then I came to AFA and saw that stamps that I have used to send people ATC's actually showed up in this swap! So now I feel more like I'm buying not just postage but small, pretty pictures that people will look at and think: I wanna use that in my art! Suddenly it feels less overpriced.
I'm talking about unused stamps of course, used stamps are cheap and abundant! I have gotten stamps from all over the world as a gift when trading and hosting - I love to see what every country has on their stamps. Thanks, MarySaintMary…I wish the mail was more reliable so I could send you a packet of used postage stamps I have collected over the years to use for this swap.
Yes, so much international postage is amazingly beautiful- and I learn bits about different country’s culture, history and natural history from their postage stamps.
Oh, sorry! Yes, mailing costs keep going up. Threats here are that the post office may go bankruptI'm talking about unused stamps of course, used stamps are cheap and abundant! Me neither, I was very surprised!Oh, sorry! Yes, mailing costs keep going up. Threats here are that the post office may go bankrupt
Did not know one could buy stamps at a discount outside the post office.
