CHINESE NEW YEAR -- Year of the Horse~Due February 12, 2026

This is the Year of the Horse.
What a beautiful, graceful, and important animal to be symbolic of this year's Chinese New Year.

By the way,
HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Just spent way too long getting right into crafting myself mixed media entries for this swap (always take me longer than just drawing) and then realized I have never signed up, so uh, can I please be added? 😅

Welcome Amai.
I signed you up.

Just to clarify, you can draw your ATCs.
The rules say all media is welcome. That does NOT mean only mixed media is allowed.

drawing is easier/faster for you, hand drawn cards are fine.
Just so you know, I also cannot guarantee you will get all hand drawn cards in return, as it depends on what ATCs I receive.

Thank you for clarifying. It’s one of the struggles of written text, where tone is lost. My original plan was to draw them, but then I got too excited by another idea and crafted instead and got very into the process. Looking at it, I can see my comment could be read as complaint when in my head, it’s unhinged excitement.

My fire horses are on their way today - the 2nd card uses the simplified character for 'ma' (horse) while the 3rd card uses the traditional character for 'ma'. Something that intrigued me is that the 4 marks at the bottom of the traditional character are normally associated with 'fire' - upon researching I discovered that all the zodiac animals are matched with an element of their own, regardless of which year in the 60-year cycle they are in, and the horse has 'fire' as its natural element.
