Kokeshi Dolls - Due November 30, 2025

Swap Due Date - November 30, 2025
Signup/withdraw date - Anytime, but please communicate

Number of participants - Unlimited
Medium: HD/HP, Mixed Media

Swap Details:
The only rule is that you create ATC cards that contain at least one Kokeshi Doll.
Make cards that you would love to receive. Add layers and detail to them but overall, have fun!

How to participate:
• Please sign up by posting to this thread.
• Make sure your cards are made out of sturdy material and are 2.5" x 3.5"
• Include your Username, swap name, your location, and the date in the back of each card.
• Each card should be sent in an individual clear protective sleeve.
• A hostess card is not necessary, but if you decide to send me one, I will treasure it.
• If you need to withdraw, please just let me know.
• When you are ready to mail your cards: send me a PM for my address. I haven't moved so if you have my address from previous swaps, it is still the same.

Mailing
  • Please include a large address label or a piece of paper with your address as well as enough postage to cover your returns. I will provide the return envelope.
  • Please write your user name and the swap in the back of your envelope.
  • International participants: I will cover your return postage.
As I receive your cards, I will post received by your name on the thread. When you receive your returns, don't forget to provide feedback to your host and leave a reputation note to your fellow artists.

Are you kidding me??? Couldn’t believe this theme. I have an ongoing collection of these simple but fascinating little dolls. I even have a wonderful reference book all about them. Please do sign me up!
 
Leyda, do you collect them too? That’s the book I have. The dolls themselves are still packed in a box from our recent move. I’m dying to get to them!
 
Sign me up for some Kokeshi, please! CiCi got me addicted to those pretty little sweeties. And a friend gifted some beautiful papers from Japan that will lend themselves nicely to this.

I do collect them. One of my friend's son studied in Japan and brought me a couple when he returned. They are so beautiful!
 
Great! You should post some pictures. Mine are still in a box from our recent move. If I can unpack them and get the display up before this swap ends, I will post some pictures if that’s okay.
 
Here are some examples from my collection. The first three are called “Traditional “, starting in 1860 and still being made in this style. The three on the right are called “Creative” and started to be made after 1945. All are between 5” and 7 1/2” tall.IMG_1607.jpeg

Hi! Please sign me up for this one!! I did a Kokeshi dolls ATC a while back and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to creating some new dolls. :)
