Swap Due Date - May 21, 2026
Signup/withdraw date - May 6 2026
Number of Cards - 3 for 3
Number of participants - 20
Medium: Hand drawn/hand colored/hand painted

This swap can be in any style, and any subject, just so long as the outlines of your subject are done with some form of a resist medium. I used tacky glue in a needle nosed applicator to draw my mountain scene, but you can use wax, Liquitex gloss medium, masking fluid, masking film/Frisket film, crayon/wax pastels, acrylic matte medium, etc. After my glue dried, I colored in the areas with alcohol markers - that's when I discovered that I should have left some areas free of the glue for my trees!

All cards should be 2.5" x 3.5" on sturdy card (or 2 layers of card stock). Your full information should be on the back. All cards should be in a single plastic sleeve protector. NO GLITTER, please! You may use shimmering watercolors like Shimmering H2O. Send an address label and a first class postage stamp - I suggest using a business sized envelope as I have found that they have less tendency to go astray in the mail. I will provide the return envelope. International players, I will provide the return postage, I just ask that you send some used postage stamps from your country - I have a granddaughter who collects stamps. Either tape your your cards together to fit the length of your envelope or use a 3 pocket sleeve. A host card is never necessary, but, needless to say, much appreciated!

Welcome janae! KerensaC, it really is a lot of fun, because you don't quite know exactly what the finished picture will be if you use an invisible medium. I teach classes at a nursing home and make up the cards with the glue beforehand and they are always so excited to see what their picture will be. They get to pick from florals, landscapes or abstract.

Question - we leave the material on (e.g. masking fluid) on the card instead of peeling it off at the end, yes?

Welcome bcurrans and leydab! Sunderdance, the type of medium that you use determines if you leave it in place. Glue, wax and crayon stay in place but some of the gels are rubbed off so another color can be added (think Russian Easter eggs).

Yes, I do a lot of watercolor, so I’m used to pulling off masking fluid, but leaving things on (like golden tar gel) will be fun for this, too. Please sign me up - neat idea for a swap!
