Sardines - Due December 1, 2026

Lurking but I have to share my sardine story. When I was a kid, my dad used to make us sardine sandwiches. We'd take sardines in mustard from a can and put them between two Saltine crackers and much away. I loved them as a kid, not sure as an adult.
Haha my mom would make them with ketchup! Still yummy:)

when i was a toddler i used to sit on the kitchen counter when my mom was making my dad sardine sandwiches to take to work
i helped by eating sardines just out of the can

sardines and mustard is good on either saltines or bread (onions optional)
i wish they still had the keys on sardine cans
i should have saved some
but who knew that they would be replaced with a pop top

Hehe do you remember when Spam came with a key top too? Can keys went out in the 80s - pure nostalgia now.

I am not sure about the Spam. since we were busy eating sardines. LOL
One time a friend gave my mom a canned ham. It kind of had a little key to wind a thin metal strip to open the ham around the lid.
I seem to be going down the rabbit hole of memories of canned items.
My mom used to buy canned chickens. They were whole chickens in a can.
She took them when we went camping and made chicken and dumplings.

These sardines are beautiful 😍
