The Mysterious Deep Sea - Due Mar 23

Eye candy alert: here are some literal "old school" art pieces depicting ancient sea creatures up to no good:

A woodcut engraving of The Sea of Darkness by Olaus Magnus, from the early 1,500's

And a 16th Century illustration from Cosmographia by Sebastian Munster, based on creatures from another Olaus Magnus piece

Ditto. It's fascinating that for as long as humans have taken to the high seas, they've had tales and folklore sailing along with them.

Kerensa is also honoring some other aquatic mysteries with the infamous Nessie of Lock Ness, so she will be in good company with Kelpie.
I’m planning on doing a Kelpie and a Selkie too, but not sure about the fourth one. Maybe Moby Dick! We’re coming home tomorrow from another week away, so I’ll get on to them next week!

I hope your trip has been fab, Kerensa. I'm working on a Moby Dick myself! I just love the imagery.

I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to withdraw. I love the theme and I love the artwork posted! But I don't know how to execute the ideas I have. Gonna keep lurking to see everyone's art though!
