Weird Vampire Holidays Due May 26, 2026

FANG-TASTIC ATCs received from jessieblack.
LOVE your sense of humor!
I laughed out loud at several of your cards!

Thanks so much for including a hostie.
I am leaning toward keeping the rose, but it is a difficult choice!

Today, May 26, is officially recognized as World Dracula Day, honoring the publication of Bram Stoker’s legendary novel Dracula in 1897. More than a century later, Dracula remains one of the most influential figures in horror, gothic culture, cinema, and dark literature.

Bran Stoker's "Dracula" was written in an epistolary format ( told through a series of journal entries, letters, and newspaper clippings).
The book defined the vampire, and explores themes of Victorian anxieties, fears, sexuality, the "other", and colonialism, becoming a cultural touchstone that defines the clash between the old world and the new, and has inspired countless adaptations.

How much do you really know about Vampires?
There are "Dracula Games" that command knowledge of Vampire lore and old beliefs. Games that one "wins" by staying alive the longest.

* Can Vampires cross water? How? When
* Can Vampires tolerate sunlight? When? How much?
* What creates a vampire? A bite? Three bites?
* Do vampires have blood type preferences? (A+, A-, B+, B-, O+, O-, AB+, AB-), like we might prefer chocolate over brussel sprouts?
* Does garlic really repel vampires? When worn? If eaten? The flowers of? The fruit itself? In a room, in a window, on a person?
* How does one kill a vampire? Beheading? Stake through the heart?
* Vampires can turn into bats; spiders; smoke; GORGEOUS, compelling, men
* How does one become a vampire? Born? Turned? Is it painful? Is the "change" instant? If not, how long does it take? Does it hurt?

Tomorrow is National Donut Day June 5th

National Donut Day or National Doughnut Day, celebrated in the United States and in some other countries, is on the first Friday of June of each year,
This succeeds the donut event created by The Salvation Army in Chicago in 1938 to honor those of their members who served donuts to soldiers during World War I.

Many donut shops (about 20 according to Google) are giving away FREE DOUGNUTS tomorrow, or Friday, June 5th, this year), including Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Doughnuts, 7-11, Randy's Doughnuts, and Vampire Donuts, (AKA Voodoo Donuts), depending on your location.

The actual "Randy's Donuts" sign has been featured in numerous movies, including Iron Man 2, Crocodile Dundee, and Get Shorty.

Don't miss this freebie, if you like donuts
