Winter Birds ATC Swap Due March 1, 2024

Hi KeriandtheFlock! There is still time to join. We're just over two weeks from the due date so as long as you mail relatively soon they should make it before the due date. :)

Hi everyone! Just a heads up it's two weeks from the due date! How did that happen so quickly?
Our mail service is still irregular, so mailing earlier is better than later to make sure they arrive in time. :)

Is anyone participating in the Great Backyard Bird Count? It's Feb 16 - 19. I missed yesterday (forgot) but am working on today.
At my suet feeder outside the office window (where I work on laptop) I've seen a spotted towhee 3 times, fox sparrow 2 times and 2 chickadees 1 time, so far. They are regulars. Occasionally I get a flock of bush tits and a female flicker. I'm hoping they stop by today.
We're trying to keep track at the back feeders also where we get a wider variety. We had a Coopers hawk a bit ago, so the bird all hid for awhile. Not sure if he found lunch here though. :)

I’m not, but sounds like fun! We have a Bird Buddy feeder and get tons of black-capped chickadees, cardinals, blue jays, nuthatches, and red bellied woodpeckers. I’m excited to see what comes in the spring and summer. Minnesota is supposed to be colder in the winter but we did get some snow this week. So that’s been pretty to see out there in the feeder. Wow! That's pretty cool. We're old fashioned and don't have a camera with our feeders... just me and my camera if I'm in the right place at the right time. :)

Thanks for letting me know. We just saw a new bird in the neighbors yard. After studying my bird books, my son and I determined it was a Prairie Falcon. Great to see, but we’re telling Odin to stay away for a bit.

Swap Due Date – March 1, 2024
Signup/withdraw date – None - please communicate and allow sufficient mailing time.
Number of Cards - 3 for 3
Number of participants – 25
Media- Open media with exceptions: No white edged stickers. No digital or prints. No heavy or thick embellishments.

Our theme is WINTER Birds - I love seeing the variety of birds at our feeders in the winter months. The lovely varied thrush shows up at our backyard feeder along with juncos. Our little chickadees are here year round as are the Annas hummingbirds and assorted sparrows and finches. In our area of the Pacific Northwest, winter birds include bald eagles up along the rivers and on the estuary flats along with snow geese, tundra swans, and assorted raptors. We even get an occasional snowy owl!
What winter birds do you see in your area? Show us!
Open media with exceptions: No white edged stickers. No digital or prints. No heavy or thick embellishments.
Your birds can be realistic or whimsical. You just need to represent a bird in winter.
Clarification:
the intent is to show birds that are in your general area. I don't see flamingos, so a flamingo in a hat and scarf would not work. However, a little brown or gray bird in hat and scarf could fit many little birds who winter in our area. Let me know if you have questions.
