Altered Ancestors ATC Swap Due July 31, 2025

So my mum and stepdad moved in with us last year (temporarily - they’ve now moved out!!) and they stored a bunch of their stuff in our attic. I have spent the whole afternoon sorting through old photos from their boxes for this swap - so many memories of my grandparents and great-grandmother, and aunties and uncles and cousins that I’d forgotten about! I can’t decide which ones to use! I want to use one of my mum, one of my dad (who died in 1999) and I think one of my grandparents, and my great-grandmother. But which?! Decisions, decisions!

Here are my altered ancestor offerings. No one knows our deepest emotions when looking at and admiring our ancestors.
I am so glad we are allowed to use copies of them. HHC, this was much more than a swap for me...it held a treasure trove of
love and reflection. Thank you for this swap. Each one has a story to it. If anyone wants the story after receiving one of these, just let me know. I will be glad to oblige.
There are very true stories behind each creation.
PS. I am the little clown with the chocolate cone hat. All the rest are grans, parents, and their friends. Some ancestors in Sweden.

It's so cool (to me) to look through the old photos of all the relatives. I love making copies and using them in my art.
It's bittersweet right now... my hubby's brother died last Sunday after a short illness. His sister shared scans of their little brother as a child that I haven't seen before. I'm working on a collage for John, and he's already told me he's okay with me altering some of those photos in my art. I have ideas for Johnny and Jimmy after some of the new-to-me stories of their adventures with their older sister. Keep looking for the joy. Some days it's harder to find than others, and remembering those who are gone is one way to keep smiling.

Big hugs to you and yours. I know you said stuff has been going on...this is some sad news. The Johnny and Jimmy cards sound great. "Keep looking for the joy." That is well put. :wubclub:

Sympathy and hugs rolling out your way HHC. It's a great idea to memorialize your brother-in-law with a collage. So special, created from your heart and thoughts. Also, very healing for you.

I’m working on these this weekend. Send me whimsy vibes because I’m on the struggle bus!

HHC, what if parts of our creations are from magazines? So, not cutting a photo of a dress out, but using parts of an ad or background to make the dress?
