How great that you got to see one of her works in person. That is on my "bucket list." I had a chance to visit an art museum that was displaying personal letters and photographs of hers, but there wasn't a single painting. Someday...Great cards, Lazyshadows! We had a Frida painting at our local art museum a few months ago and some photos of her and her studio. It was so wonderful to see. I always seem to think of her paintings as being very, very large but this one was way smaller than I'd have expected. And there were some other artifacts in the exhibit as well.
It was great. It was the second time I saw her work. The first was when the Nevada Art Museum in Reno opened (quite a few years ago). We drove up there and I think the Frida exhibit was the first one they had. My local museum is also going to have a Gladys Nilsson retrospective. I think it opens in a week or two. I'm super excited about that exhibit. How great that you got to see one of her works in person. That is on my "bucket list." I was fortunate to see some of Frida's art at the Vancouver Art Gallery some years ago. It was an exhibit of 3 women artists - Emily Carr (Canada), Georgia O'Keefe and Frida. I couldn't remember exactly when it was, so I googled it - it was 2002 - so long ago!How great that you got to see one of her works in person. That is on my "bucket list." I also got to see a wonderful show of Georgia O'Keefe's work in Ft Worth, Texas - also many years ago. Lily Tomlin was there too (I tried not to disturb her enjoyment of the show, but inside I was starstruck). Thanks for the shares, nanvan! Your cards are beautiful. The colors are so deep and rich. They match the spirit of our muse. I'm happy to hear you, too got to see some of her works in person. Along with some other great women artists. I was fortunate enough to get to visit the Georgia O'Keefe museum in Santa Fe. Seeing the art in person really leaves an extra impression.
Your FABULOUS Fridas are here! They are beautiful. Thanks so very much for including a keepsake card. Here are mine. I just love Frida!
